• The PX Ranger has a spectacle holder / map light assembly fitted between the sunvisors. This assembly also contains a bluetooth microphone for a mobile phone and in some models the map light housing contains sensors for the car alarm. Removal of this assembly reveals an opening in the hood lining, our console has been designed to take advantage of this opening. If a radio is fitted into the front of the console, it can protrude past the top of the console, sitting in the space between the hoodlining and the turret. This design allows the console to be less intrusive and allows the radio to sit further forward making it easier to see and to operate. The spectacle holder / map light assembly can be re-mounted into our roof console (as displayed in the photo above) however re-mounting this assembly eliminates the option of having a storage area in front of the interior light. The most popular option is to remove the map lights and the bluetooth microphone from this assembly and re-mount them back into our console (for more details, scroll down to the fitting instructions).
• Two holes must be drilled into the vehicle to fit our console. The two front mounting screws for the console are attached to the screw holes for the genuine spectacle holder / map light assembly. The two rear mounting screws for the console are attached to a turret support channel in the centre of the roof that is covered by the hoodlining. All wiring can be installed without drilling any holes or cutting the trim.

Your centre roof console will be designed to suit your specific model vehicle. It will neatly follow the contours of your hoodlining and will be the ideal width to suit the distance between your sunvisors. The length of the console takes into account the mounting system for the console, the shape of the cabin and when applicable, headroom for the rear seat passengers. When calculating the depth of the console we allow for maximum headroom and a clear view for the rear vision mirror. As no two model vehicles are the same our "vehicle specific" consoles are the best available.

In addition to being "vehicle specific" we also "custom build" each console to suit your requirements - nobody else does that! We adjust the shape of the base of the console to suit your radio(s) storage or lighting requirements. When custom building your console we can build a slim line console for maximum headroom or a deeper console for maximum storage. We can make the console's radio housing(s) as small as your radio(s) will allow providing more headroom and moving your radio(s) closer to the windscreen for better access. Another advantage of this versatility of design, most modern radios have a LCD (liquid crystal display) screen. It is easier to read the LCD when you are looking square onto the screen. Whenever possible, we change the angle on the console's facia panel to suit the radio being fitted.

A piece of "one wrap" hook and loop tape is supplied with each roof console (one retainer for each radio) to prevent your microphone curly cord from dangling and blocking your view. Simply screw this retainer onto the console in a suitable position between the radio and the microphone clip, then wrap the tape around the curly cord. If you need the full length of the curly cord, the "one wrap" tape is easy to release and re-attach.

Introduction:
Two holes must be drilled into the vehicle to fit this console. To mount the front of the console, we utilise the two mounting screw holes for the genuine spectacle holder / map light assembly. The back of the console is held in place by drilling two screw holes into a turret support channel (this channel is covered by the hood lining – see figure 3). Removal of the spectacle assembly reveals an opening in the hood lining, our console has been designed to take advantage of this opening. If a radio is fitted into the front of the console it can protrude past the top of the console, sitting in the space between the hood lining and the turret. This design allows the console to be less intrusive and allows the radio to sit further forward making it easier to see and operate.

Step 1. Remove the spectacle holder / map light assembly and the interior light.

Step 2. Remove the speaker grill fitted to the front of the console. Remove the plastic bag(s) containing the console fitting kit(s).

Step 3. Hold the console in position to check the fit. Make sure you have received the correct console, in good order, before cutting any holes.

Step 4. Place the console in position. Ensure that the console’s two front mounting holes are lined up with the screw holes in the vehicle.

Step 5. Attach the front of the console to the vehicle using the two 75mm 10 gauge self-tapping screws and two washers supplied (as shown in Figure 2 above).

Step 6. Make sure the back of the console is sitting in the centre of the vehicle by measuring from each side of the console to each side of the vehicle. After centreing the console, use a scriber (or similar) to make two holes in the hood lining in line with the console’s two rear mounting points. Remove the console from the vehicle.

Step 7. Before drilling any holes, check that your holes in the hood lining are in line with the centre of the channel by pushing the scriber through the hood lining then moving the point around to feel for the position of the channel shown in Figure 3.

Step 9. Fit your radio(s) and accessories into the console – see the “instructions on installing a radio into a console” and the “radio fitting kit” supplied with the console.

Step 10. Install the wiring and aerial lead(s) before fitting the console. Be sure to leave enough spare wire to reach down to the seat. This will make it easier to connect your wiring to the radio(s) before fitting the console. The excess wire can be coiled up inside the console. The wiring looms for the genuine map lights and the Bluetooth microphone might not be long enough to reach the lights and microphone when they are fitted into the console. The best way to lengthen these looms is to cut and extend each individual wire. Remove the appropriate fuses then cut each wire separately to avoid damaging any sensitive electrical components.

Step 11. Connect the wiring and check that the radio(s) and accessories are operational before installing the console.

ALTERNATIVE A:
For a console with provision to re-mount the complete spectacle holder / map light assembly.

Step 12. Coil up any excess wire while lifting the console into position. Thread the interior light loom and plug through the interior light hole in the console. Thread the map light loom and the Bluetooth loom through the hole in the console for the spectacle holder / map light assembly.

Step 13. Attach the front of the console to the vehicle using the two 75mm long screws and two of the washers provided in the fitting kit.

Step 14. Attach the rear of the console to the vehicle using the two 45mm long screws and two of the washers provided in the fitting kit.

Step 15. Connect the genuine map light wiring plug and the Bluetooth microphone wiring plug. Fit the spectacle holder / map light assembly to the console using the two 18mm screws supplied.

Step 16. Re-attached the speaker grill to the front of the console.

Step 17. Connect the interior light wiring plug then fit the interior light onto the base of the console.

ALTERNATIVE B:
For a console with provision to re-mount the map light and the Bluetooth microphone (i.e. discard the spectacle holder.)

Step 12. Coil up any excess wire while lifting the console into position. Thread the interior light loom and plug through the interior light hole in the console. Thread the wiring loom for the map light through the map light hole in the console then thread the Bluetooth microphone loom through the speaker grill hole in the console.

Step 13. Attach the front of the console to the vehicle using the two 75mm long screws and two of the washers provided in the fitting kit.

Step 14. Attach the rear of the console to the vehicle using the two 45mm long screws and two of the washers provided in the fitting kit.

Step 15. Connect the genuine map light wiring plug. Fit the map light into the console. As shown in Figure 4, attach the Bluetooth microphone onto the inside of the speaker grill using the double sided tape supplied. Connect the Bluetooth microphone wiring plug then re-attach the speaker grill to the front of the console.
